Reopening Implementation Policy 8-26-21Pennsylvania is facing a crisis because government funding for Direct Support Professionals (DSP) wages has flat-lined for 10 years!!
This short video provides a brief overview of Who St. Edmond’s Home is, the children we serve and the services we offer. Please take a moment to watch and learn more!
The Women’s Auxiliary provides invaluable support for the needs of the children through fundraising efforts such as sponsoring the yearly Gala, Love Bonds Campaign and volunteering at the home.
We envision a world grounded in Love: embodying Compassion, Dignity, Charity, Justice and Excellence for children with intellectual and physical disabilities. We are committed to serve medically fragile children and we recognize each individual as a unique creation of God. We strive to ensure that all children achieve their full potential.
DONATE NOWI am Jack’s Aunt Anne, and I visited him on Sundays. I want to thank all of you for all the love and support you gave him for all these years. The love you gave Jack was the most beautiful thing in the world. When I entered St. Edmond’s on Sunday, I could feel the depth of love in the atmosphere. Whether it was a happy greeting as I strolled him through the hallways or taking time to get him a jacket and blanket so he could go outside, the love you gave Jack permeated the atmosphere at St. Edmond’s. I will always be thankful for you.
“It’s been 10 years since Ashley was a resident at St. Edmond’s, but we think of her and St. Edmond’s every day. The care that your staff provided was the best. We could never thank you enough for all that St. Edmond’s did for Ashley and our family.”
“Today is Rachel’s 16th Birthday! As I look through pictures of Rachel and reflect on the time she has been a resident at St Edmond’s, my heart overflows with so many good memories and much gratitude. I don’t know where our family would be if it was not for this place.
St Edmond’s has taken Rachel in and has provided the best quality of care for her needs. It gives us so much peace to know she is not only cared for, but also loved by everyone there.
Thank you. We are so grateful to have St Edmond’s as a part of our family.”
I wanted to reach out and give kudos to the DCP staff at St. Edmonds. The nurses are all spectacular but I wanted to share how great an impression the DCP staff has made on my students and myself. As they work taking care of the girls, they show kindness, gentleness and love to all of them. They are an amazing group. Kudos DCP staff.
The Direct staff at St Edmonds have a part of helping raise and care for our son D. for 12 years now. What that means to us is hard to put into words.
Without them our lives would be dramatically different. With his level of disabilities, the job of caring for him is physically demanding . The staff at St Ed’s is our expanded family. A family that we trust and love to help us give D. the best possible life he can have. We are grateful for their giving and loving spirits and all that they do every day without ever thinking of themselves. Through the pandemic, when we could not see him they stepped in and took full responsibility. Full responsibility at a time that was scary and unknowing and put their own lives at risk to take care of our son. For that and all that they do every day my heart is forever grateful for all of them. I believe it takes a village to raise children, especially a child such as D. This we have found at St Edmonds. Thank you to all of you that do the work every day with a smile on your face and so much love for our son in your heart❤️ We truly are blessed to have you all!
The DCPs at St. Edmond’s are some of the most caring and loving individuals I have ever met. They approach their work as if each child in their care is their own. They learn the nuances of each child, and are critical to their care and their wellbeing. My daughter is always impeccably dressed with her hair carefully styled. I rely on her DCPs to let me know how she’s doing and what she might need since I can’t be there all the time. I don’t know how St. Edmond’s could provide such a loving, healthy, secure, and comfortable environment for my child without the talent and heart of the DCPs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Words cannot express how much we appreciate and trust all of the direct support staff at St. Edmond’s. These are people who we have now entrusted with the care, the development and most importantly, the protection of our daughter. Their compassion, their professionalism and their care has always been outstanding. We would shout from the highest mountain, how wonderful all of you are!
Thank you for everything you all doing in order to keep the children and staff healthy and the activities for the children.

“A few summers ago I brought a youth group on an urban “mission” trip and we had the opportunity to spend a week with all the incredible young people and staff at St. Edmond’s. You all are truly doing incredible work that changes lives. I love what you do and how you do it! You are always in my thoughts and prayers! God bless you all abundantly!”
“Our daughter Grace is our angel. Grace has been at St. Edmond’s Home for Children since she was 3 years old, and it’s really been a blessing to our family. They have a very caring and spiritual world where they take care of God’s most fragile children. The children at St. Edmond’s are severely mentally and physically handicapped. Our Grace is also blind, so there are a multitude of different disabilities that these children have.
Grace receives around-the-clock care which has not only saved her life many times, but also helped her grow up to be the person she is today.
Grace wasn’t expected to live very long and here she is almost 24 years old. She’s able to talk and walk and do much more than was ever expected. That’s really because of the love and care they provide at St. Edmond’s.
St. Edmond’s has been the ultimate place to take care of Grace and has enabled our family to grow spiritually, accept the trials and tribulations of life, and to do our best as a unit.” G. B. Family
[Note: Grace transitioned to adult placement this summer.]
I am writing this letter in recognition and thanks for the excellent care given to my son residing at St. Edmond’s Home for Children. It has given me great comfort and confidence leaving him in the care of staff and/or employees who have truly enhanced my son’s life and whom have treated him with love, respect and genuine kindness. Having been his father, as well as, sole caregiver prior to his living in your facility, I can honestly say that the differences made by all of those at St. Edmond’s Home for Children shines through on every visit with my son. Even on occasions such as Christmas, on outings/vacations and birthdays, you have exhibited the upmost energy and encouragement that have made these times safe and enjoyable for him. The one-on-one attention given to my son has improved his quality of life in so many ways. For example, teaching him how to use his hands to utilize utensils to eat his food, a skill that is essential to living a more independent life, have been further proof of the wisdom and skill implemented by your staff. Evidence of the specialized care given to my son are apparent and consistent, thus, deserving of my recognition and praise.
Although mere words cannot fully express the extent of gratitude for the task of caring for my son on a daily basis in the home, I can only hope that this letter reveals the importance of your job well done. If ever there is anything that I can do to better support your efforts in the continual care of my son, I will do my best in being willing and available. Thank you all again for your part in making my son and those of the children residing in your home a great place to grow, learn and love.
To the Staff at St. Edmond’s,
Please accept the enclosed check in memory of Ashley G. I am her grandmother and want to thank each and every of you for the loving care she received every day. It was phenomenal. You are all such very special people, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. We were so very blessed to have found such a wonderful home for her to stay.
May God be with you as you continue giving children like Ashley all your love and caring you have in your hearts. Ashley is now with the angels.
All of our fears were clearly put to rest the second we stepped into St. Edmond’s. The staff is truly amazing. Our son’s quality of life immediately improved. Not just from the services and programs offered by St. Edmond’s, but from the LOVE showed for our son by the entire staff.
All of the staff of St. Edmond’s have contributed so much to helping our daughter be the best she can be. You have allowed her to love you and you have loved her in return.
This facility gives our son, the opportunity to attend the best school, go on community outings, have dances (as any teen would be doing at 16) and get the finest medical care that we could hope for, all in a loving, compassionate setting. The decision for us to place our son was the hardest decision we ever had to make. But as we view it…we have expanded our family.
Our son has grown up at St. Edmond’s and we have been able to be a part of that. The dedicated staff of DSP’s and nurses have cared for him, nurtured him, and supported his overwhelming daily needs. In this setting he is part of a community and this provides stimulation and entertainment for him. As well as serving as a support system for us.
My Wife and I miss spending time with everyone there. You have an incredible staff that enrich the lives of all the children and their parents. We will never forget what St. Edmond’s has meant to our family.
